G5 My Little Pony Wiki

Princess Zephyrina "Zipp" Storm[2] is a Pegasus pony and one of the main characters of the fifth generation of My Little Pony. She and her younger sister, Pipp Petals, are the princesses of Zephyr Heights. She is also the daughter of Queen Haven. She represents the element of bravery (sometimes referred to as courage).

Personality[]

An athletic pony, Zipp is rebellious and full of attitude. But she has also been stated to have a passion for science, revealing a more traditionally intellectual side to her personality.[3] Being curious and inquisitive lends well to her job as detective of Maretime Bay.

Zipp has a sense of justice, and encourages ponies to be true to themselves, exemplified by her reluctance to keep up the charade that the royal family can fly in My Little Pony: A New Generation.

Before magic returned, Zipp spent her free time practicing her athletic skills in the mountains, emulating the feeling of flying. This greatly helps her flying abilities; when magic is restored. She has taken up detective hobbies near-full time; since the Make Your Mark special.

While Zipp acts tough and can be short-tempered, she is a kind, caring and accepting pony. She shows compassion towards Sunny and Izzy; when both of them are thrown in the dungeon, returning Sunny's diary to her and breaking them out of their cell. She also invites Hitch to join them around the fire the night; before they go to Bridlewood; despite him being hostile towards her not long; before. In The Manesquerade Ball, she assures Misty that; they will still be friends; even though she does not have a cutie mark, and tells the surprised unicorn that; she is always welcome at the Crystal Brighthouse.

Appearance[]

Zipp is a lanky, white-coated pegasus mare with turquoise eyes with short lashes, hot pink eyebrows, silver hooves, and a gelled, hot pink mane and tail with aqua and light pink streaks. Her cutie mark consists of a hot pink-and-aqua lightning bolt with a yellow crown on top. As per her pony type, Zipp has a pair of large feathered wings, with a gradient of different shades of blue, purple and hot pink. Unlike her mother and sister, Zipp does not wear a crown or any golden headpiece of some kind, perhaps to emphasize her "rebellious princess" demeanor.

My Little Pony: A New Generation[]

MeetingZipp (86)

Don't tell them you saw me.

She first appears in the canyon outside of Zephyr Heights, practicing acrobatics. She stumbles across Izzy and Sunny and is surprised to see non-Pegasi near Zephyr Heights. Zipp hears the approach of Thunder and Zoom and asks for the two to keep their interaction a secret, and she dives off.

MeetQueen (130)

Zipp, her mother, Queen Haven, and her sister, Pipp, officially meet Sunny and Izzy in the Zephyr Heights throne room. Zipp appears disinterested until Izzy says hello to her, but Zipp shakes her head, reminding them to stay quiet about their meeting in the canyon. When Sunny and Izzy are thrown to the dungeon, Zipp looks at them sadly as she leaves the room.

Dungeunn (57)

Zipp visits Sunny and Izzy in the dungeon, curious about magic. She is surprised to learn that the Unicorns have lost their magic and returns Sunny's previously confiscated journal, remarking that the star on the cover is of interest. When Pipp comes in to the dungeon to get content for her social feeds, Zipp is scolded for being in the dungeon against her mother's wishes. Zipp seems tired of her sister's attitude when she explains that only royal pegasi can fly. She rolls her eyes as Pipp leaves for dress rehearsal. She then opens the door of the dungeon and beckons Sunny and Izzy to follow her.

ZephyrStation (71)

"Her sparkle is so bright right now!"

Zipp leads them to an abandoned balloon station, a relic from when all pony kinds used to visit. She looks, pondering, at an old Wonderbolts poster until Sunny mentions that it must be weird being one of the few Pegasi to actually fly. Zipp reveals that the royals have been faking it with wires. Zipp is tired and frustrated of living the lie, so she comes to the station, now full of Zipp's flight attempts. She shows off one of her attempts, a large fan, which can suspend her in midair. She glides down and shows Sunny an old stained-glass window depicting a pegsus, a unicorn, and the pegasus crystal, which she explains is part of Queen Haven's crown. When Sunny decides that the pegasus and unicorn crystals should be reunited, Zipp explains that getting the pegasus crystal from the Queen will be difficult. She comes up with a plan to steal Queen Haven's crown during Pipp's concert that night.

Glowinplan (4)

The plan is put into action. Zipp gathers supplies to make a fake crown and lets Sunny and Izzy into the grand hall. Before the concert, Zipp is surprised that Pipp told Queen Haven that she was talking to the prisoners. Zipp admits that the Unicorns also don't have magic and thinks that it may be tied to the lack of flight. Haven interrupts her and tries to dissuade her from changing the status quo and admitting the lie. Zipp is fed up with her mother and glares away from her as she is lowered into the hall.

Glowinplan (219)

During the concert, Zipp is happy when she sees Sunny successfully steal the crown off of Haven's head, but soon notices Cloudpuff has fetched the crystal back. She tries to rip it out of his mouth, but Cloudpuff takes off and Zipp follows. She is able to snatch the crystal as the attention of everyone is drawn to Pipp's wire failure, and leaves with Sunny and Izzy. Zipp notices Pipp suspended in the air, under the scrutiny of the press and public, and looks in concern until Sunny urges her to leave.

Warrant (167)

In the alleyways outside of Zephyr Heights, Zipp shares a bit of banter with Hitch, who has joined the group. Zipp learns that news has spread, and Queen Haven is under arrest, with warrants out for Zipp and Pipp. Sunny realizes that she lost the crystal, and the ponies frantically consider going back into the grand hall to get it. Pipp, fuming mad, demands an explanation for the ruined concert as she presents the pegasus crystal. Zipp is excited, but is chastised by Pipp for exposing the lie and leaving her hanging. She convinces Pipp to help them restore magic.

Prancing (90)

You know what would be great right now? The ability to fly.

In the daisy fields, Pipp confronts Zipp, still mad about the incident the previous day. Zipp assures her that she would be a hero if she helped to bring magic back. Coming across a broken bridge, Zipp and Pipp begin to argue. Sunny assures Zipp that when the journey is over, she should be able to fly. Izzy knocks down a tree to use as a makeshift bridge and the journey continues. Zipp later taunts Hitch lightly as he sits away from the group trying to start a fire.

Cwystals (85)

Zipp acts as part of the collective for a time, traveling to Izzy's cottage and getting a Unicorn disguise. She is initially hesitant at the idea of a makeover, but goes along with the plan. In Bridlewood, Zipp's response to Izzy's crystal antics is to ask if she's aware they only need one crystal. She also later asks for context on the "Bing Bong" ritual. She acts as part of the collective once again after this.

Failure (272)

After running from the Crystal Tea Room, Zipp and Pipp are found by Queen Haven. She looks questioningly at her insistance that they can just "spin the story" to gain the citizens' favor again. She is disappointed to see the crystals fail and gives Hitch a banter-less goodbye as he heads back to Maretime Bay with Sunny.

Fightsprout (185)

She later returns to Sunny in Maretime Bay, insisting that she didn't want to be apart from her new friends. She and Hitch peel off from the group to try to stop Sprout's mech. Zipp assists him in detatching one of the splat-a-paults from the mech, but it flies off and almost hits Sunny and Izzy. She is eventually flung from the mech as Sprout rams into the lighthouse one last time.

Transformagic (57)

Once the lighthouse collapses and everyone recovers, Zipp and her new friends listen to Sunny's speech about friendship. They watch in amazement at Sunny's transformation and the magic spreading. When magic is restored, she flies around excitedly with Pipp as the sisters praise Sunny's new appearance. Zipp poses with some Earth ponies and unicorns for a photo. She does the final "hooves to hearts" cheer with her sister and new friends.

My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale[]

Zipp and Pipp move to the Crystal Brighthouse alongside their friends, and they struggle as they adjust to living together. In Foal Me Once, Zipp helps Hitch with the case of the disappearing items, and the latter then comes to his senses. In The Game Is a Hoof and Making a Foal of Me, Zipp continues to practice her detective skills, as they grow over time. In Queen for a Day, Zipp and the Mane 5 find out just how much work Queen Haven does all the time.

In Zipp's Yes Day, Zipp is surprised by how much fun she has by saying yes. In Pony Partay, Zipp builds a skatepark for Sunny's birthday party. In Filly Filling, Zipp comments on how Pipp always asks her social media fans for help, though she regrets it after finding her sister had been trapped in a pumpkin pie and refrained from asking for help for most of the episode. In Making a Meal of It, Zipp and Pipp are relieved to discover that their mom does not mind holiday traditions going off plan, as long as they get to spend them with their favorite ponies. In Taking Flight, Zipp works together with Izzy to build the Mare Stream.

In Secret Ad-mare-er, Zipp is shown attempting to grow a Venus Flytrap, and later shares some wise words with Izzy. In The Hunt for Eggmund Bunny, Zipp and Hitch search for Eggmund Bunny together, and she helps the two fathers sympathize over the challenges of parenting. In Mission Imponable, Zipp helps Sunny train her flying skills. In Mare Family Mare Problems, Zipp, along with Pipp, is irked by Queen Haven including Alphabittle in their plans, though after seeing how disappointed their mother is with them, they make amends with the older stallion and all enjoy a picnic together.

In As the Misty Clears, Zipp questions Misty about her necklace, and curiously takes it after the owner leaves it on a rock. Under the influence of the necklace, Zipp proudly makes her role as heir to the Zephyr Heights throne known. In Hot Day, Huh?, Zipp tries unsuccessfully to convince the ponies of Maretime Bay that it is an excellent day to go to the beach, however, Misty helps her to succeed in the end. In Moon Festival, Zipp uses her investigation skills to figure out that the moon is supercharging magic, and after she and the Mane 6 put a plug in the issue, she watches the Zephyr Heights Aerobats with mixed awe and envy.

In Lavarynth, Zipp completes the first puzzle, in correspondence with her element, using her athletic flying skills. In Crystal Ball, Zipp is less-than-happy about the eponymous ball, but shares some banter with Hitch after being told she would find Sparky, and the Fortune Teller being right. In the end, she thoroughly enjoys the remainder of the ball. In Equestria's Got Talent, she portrays Santa Hooves (official name not revealed), carrying a sack of presents and preparing to go down a chimney.

In Icy Prints, while flying through Maretime Bay and interacting with her friends, Zipp finds a section of the forest outside of town frozen. She sends a message to Hitch about the possibility of a "town-destroying frost monster", but she slips on the ice just as she sends it, causing the message to be sent to everyone and triggering a town-wide panic. Zipp and Sunny investigate the frozen section of forest, just to discover Twitch delivering supplies to his master, the evil snow leopard Allura. At the Crystal Brighthouse, they inform the rest of Mane 6 about Allura. Along with the Mane 6, she mentioned her ability to figure out why can help protect Maretime Bay. Zipp then informs the rest of Equestria about Allura but assures them they have nothing to be afraid of as long as they stick together.

Chapter 1[]

In Make Your Mark, Zipp notices strange occurrences surrounding the ponies' magic and investigates their cause, while simultaneously struggling to deal with her mother's pressures for her to return to Zephyr Heights and embrace her royal duties. She eventually discovers that magic is glitching due to increasing tensions between the pony races, and she and her friends work to include unicorns and Pegasi in the Earth pony festival of Maretime Bay Day.

When tensions lead to magic going haywire, Zipp and the others help to save their fellow ponies. After the problem is resolved, Zipp plucks up the courage to tell Queen Haven that she wants to stay in Maretime Bay and further investigate the mysteries of magic. Haven accepts her daughter's choice, and Zipp becomes a detective in the special's final scene.

Chapter 2[]

In Izzy Does It, Zipp takes not of all the magical happenings in her friends' lives. She also notes the magical compact Pipp supposedly "gifted" Sunny and seemingly forgot about. In Growing Pains, Zipp joins Hitch and Sunny in Hitch's appraisal of Earth pony magic. She also joins Sunny in protesting Hitch wanting to remove the Earth pony Unity Crystal, and she is present when a hologram of Twilight Sparkle is projected by the crystal, warning them of a dire threat. When the Mane 5 create a tree by uniting their magic, Zipp notes that the tree's flowers look strangely familiar to her.

In Portrait of a Princess, Zipp, eager to escape the preparations for the royal portrait day, talks Pipp into sneaking away to find a special flower. After getting trapped in a cave, the two argue over Pipp's drawing attention to each other and Zipp's lie. Realizing how much Pipp was looking forward to Portrait Day, Zipp sings the song they sang together as fillies. The two reconcile, escape with the help of Pipp's fans, and arrive in time for the painting. In Ali-Conned, Zipp helps cheer Sunny up after she finds out no one cares about her causes, and she and the others reveal that they brought her dream of a community garden to life.

In The Cutie Mark Mix-Up, Zipp, Pipp, and Izzy struggle to deal with a stampede of critters in the Brighthouse. Zipp also manages to piece together the reason for Hitch and Sunny's cutie mark switch and helps them reconcile. In The Traditional Unicorn Sleep-Over, Zipp takes part in throwing a unicorn sleep-over for Izzy, and she quickly becomes suspicious of Misty. In Hoof Done It?, Zipp puts her detective skills to work in trying to find Sunny's lantern. She suspects Misty of being the thief but is convinced otherwise by Pipp. In Have You Seen This Dragon?, Zipp tries to help Hitch find Sparky, but she is unintentionally sabotaged by Izzy's own efforts. Encouraged by Sunny, she works together with the others to locate the missing baby dragon.

Chapter 3[]

In the Winter Wishday special, the Mane 5 each prepare for their respective holiday traditions. Zipp and Pipp rehearse for a royal Wishentine concert. Zipp joins Izzy in unveiling the Mare Stream and acts as the craft's pilot as the group travel Equestria. While visiting Hitch's Grandma Figgy, Zipp's attention is caught by a storybook, which she borrows. After visiting Bridlewood, the group travel to Zephyr Heights, where Zipp joins Pipp and Queen Haven in window shopping and later performs in the concert. When an unnatural amount of snow threatens to engulf Equestria, Zipp uses the storybook she borrowed to deduce that the unicorn Wishiehoof greeting of "Frostyshivers" is actually a spell that brings snow. After the snowfall is reversed, Zipp and her friends return to Maretime Bay, where they witness the Wishing Star passing over the Brighthouse.

Chapter 4[]

In Bridlewoodstock, Zipp helps her sister Pipp invite the pegasus band Electric Blue to the Bridlewoodstock music festival. Zipp and Hitch also investigates the Troggles, but didn't find anything.

In Top Remodel, Zipp investigates the message from Twilight Sparkle, coming to the conclusion that the pony who wants to steal Equestria's magic must be an alicorn.

In The Jinxie Games, Zipp helps Pipp find out why Queen Haven failed to arrive for brunch, believing she has been kidnapped. She soon learns that Haven has gotten romantically involved with Alphabittle.

In Sunny Side Up, Zipp helps record "Sunny Side Up" in the Canterlove studio.

In The Manesquerade Ball, Zipp attend the Manesquerade Ball with the Mane 5 and Misty. Zipp conducts research on Alicorn magic in the palace library archive while Misty sneaks in with her. Zipp finds Misty and questions Misty's behavior. After knowing that Misty don't have a cutie mark, Zipp reassures Misty, emphasizing that she value the friendship despite the differences.

In A Little Horse, Zipp shares her book collection with her sick sister Pipp, and explains all the information and theories she had about the evil Alicorn.

In Missing the Mark, Zipp and her friends find that Sparky is missing again, and Misty leads them to Opaline's Dark Castle. Zipp questions why Misty know the castle so well but immediately got captured by Opaline and learned that Misty was serving her the entire time. After Misty has a change of heart and frees them, Zipp and Hitch sneak into Opaline's room and save Sparky. In the end, Zipp and the others lend their cutie mark magic to Sunny, allowing her to overpower Opaline.

Chapter 5[]

In Cutie Blossom Bash, Zipp and her friends bring Misty to Zephyr Heights to celebrate her getting her cutie mark, sharing how she got her own cutie mark along the way. She and Hitch work together to try to ensure the ceremony goes well, and she and her friends give Misty a private ceremony when she admits she doesn't like being the center of attention.

In Family Trees Pt. 1, Zipp pesters Misty about the odd dreams she's been having, believing it will help stop Opaline. In Family Trees Pt. 2, Zipp is present when Misty reunites with her long-lost father, Alphabittle.

Chapter 6[]

In The Isle of Scaly, Zipp pilots the Mare Stream as the group travel to the dragons' home, narrowly avoiding a crash landing when the Hope Lantern's power suddenly weakens. Soon after, she and the others meet the dragons and their leader, Spike, who tells them of Opaline's past. After the dragons agree to ally with ponies, Zipp and the others ride them back to Equestria.

In Roots of All Evil Pt. 1, the ponies return to Maretime Bay to discover that Opaline has corrupted the Together Trees and started stealing cutie marks. Zipp goes with Pipp to defend Zephyr Heights from Opaline's next attack. In Roots of All Evil Pt. 2, Zipp and Pipp take on Opaline when she attacks Zephyr Heights, distracting her with a song and then trapping her and the dragons in a large tarp. However, Opaline quickly breaks out and takes their cutie marks. Soon after, they realize that the ponies can give power to the Together Trees, and help rally all the ponies of Equestria to sing in front of them. The ponies unity spreads through the Together Trees, purifiying Opaline's and aiding in her defeat.

In Secrets of Starlight, Zipp and her friends investigate the portal that has formed in Opaline's Together Tree, which brings them to Starlight Ridge. There, they meet the Auroricorns. Zipp quickly grows suspicious of the Auroricorns' odd behavior. She and her friends soon learn that the Auroricorns are in the thrall of a winged snow leopard named Allura. Working together, they are able to free the Auroricorns from Allura's thrall and repel the villain from Starlight Ridge.

My Little Pony (comics)[]

Zipp features in the 2022 My Little Pony comic book series by IDW Publishing. In Issue #1, she plays a game of flyball with Pipp and Sunny, but later falls out of the sky (and is saved by Sunny). She and her friends discover that one of the Unity Crystals has been stolen, and they set out to track down the thief. In Issue #2, they discover the ruins of Canterlot, and learn that Discord stole the crystal, and plans to destroy it in hopes of ensuring peace in Equestria.

In Issue #3, Zipp looks after Cloudpuff while Queen Haven is away. She neglects Cloudpuff to look for Discord, causing Cloudpuff to run away and prompting Zipp to enlist Hitch's help to find him. In Issue #4, Zipp advises Pipp against posting a text message to her followers regarding how she felt when the royal family's deception was revealed. In Issue #5, Zipp and her friends follow a lead on Discord's whereabouts to a lighthouse owned by Lightning Rod, who tells them stories of the Mirror of Mayhem, a dangerous artifact created by Discord himself.

In Issue #6, Zipp and her friends follow Discord's animal friend, Reginald Fursome, who leads them to Fluttershy's old cottage. There, they find a message Fluttershy left for Discord. In Issue #7, she asks Hitch to be her partner in an obstacle course, and joins the others in setting up Hitch's Harvest Day deejay booth in return. She appears in a flashback in Issue #8, inviting Sunny to join her and Pipp in a flight, then later trying Sunny and Izzy's new smoothie.

In Issue #9, Zipp stresses herself out trying to figure out where Discord is. After Pipp helps her find the missing clue, the Mane Five set out to confront him. Unfortunately, their waning magic leaves them defeated and captured by Discord. In Issue #10, the group work together to escape, and confront Discord again. After Izzy convinces Discord to stop, he joins them in playing a game Zipp created.

In Issue #11, Zipp scoffs at Pipp freaking out over losing followers. She then proceeds to prank her sister by pretending that the online challenge of "summoning" a ghost actually came to pass. After being unmasked, Zipp apologizes to Pipp and makes it up to her by doing an activity together. In Issue #12, Zipp helps Hitch with his podcast revolving around unsolved cases. In Issue #13, Zipp and her friends take part in the annual Maretime Bay Beachside Bake-Off. While they initially have trouble deciding on a recipe, they ultimately work together by combining ingredients that each one likes, with peanut butter being Zipp's contribution.

In Issue #16, Zipp argues with Zipp over whose responsibilities are hardest, which leads to a nymph named Milkyway switching the sisters' lives (unbeknownst to Zipp). In Issue #17, Zipp learns that Pipp inadvertently caused Milkyway to switch them, and together with their friends, they seek out Milkyway in hopes of getting her to reverse what they did. Milkyway refuses, saying that the magic can only be undone once Zipp understand the pressures of Pipp's pop star life. Zipp eventually convinces Pipp to go along with this, taking on Pipp's role as a pop star while Pipp gives her royal duties a try. In Issue #18, Zipp attempts to deal with the musician Carotang badmouthing her, but is manipulated into making herself look even worse to her fans. In Issue #19, Zipp helps Pipp clean up the dining room, while Pipp helps her with the choreography for the show, and to make amends with her fans. In Issue #20, Zipp is convinced by Pipp to make amends with Carotang in order to appease her fans, and convince Carotang to let them use his stage. During the performance, Zipp invites Pipp to join her, with the new understanding they have for each other finally undoing Milkyway's magic.

In the My Little Pony: Bridlewoodstock story A Bad Case of Aponyia, Zipp is called in to investigate when the Hoofpicks' lead singer suddenly loses her voice.

Zipp is briefly mentioned in the My Little Pony 40th Anniversary Special story Tales of Dream Valley, with Sunny hoping to learn more about the land of Dream Valley from Zehphyr Heights' library.

In IDW Endless Summer - My Little Pony, Zipp helps Sunny to get over the end of summer by reminding her of her favorite winter activities (alongside Pipp). She also joins the rest of her friends in treating Sunny to one last summer outing.

In Issue #2, she gets angry at Sunny for impulsively challenging the Sandy Shore Slammers to face her team at the upcoming Derby, though she later apologizes and joins the team.

In the My Little Pony: Mane Event story Hair Cut for Time, Zipp and Hitch have a disagreement over their individual manecare techniques. After saving Misty from being trapped in an out-of-control bouncing ball messes up their manes, they both decide that they like their new look, and go to the movies together.

In the first issue of My Little Pony: Set Your Sail, Zipp and Hitch find pages of a popular book series buried in sand on the beach, with the word "LIAR" written on them. The two decide to investigate further.

In Issue #2, Zipp's investigations are interrupted when she fears something happened to Pipp during her diplomatic trip to the Sparkling Seas. Utilizing a spell to become a Seapony, she meets with Queen Calla Lilly and her sister Princess Anemone, and learns of the history of the Sparkling Sea. She also befriends Princess Anemone, who offers to help her find Pipp.

Trivia[]

  • She, along with Sunny Starscout and Pipp Petals, are the only characters to appear in every episode of My Little Pony: Make Your Mark.
  • Trademarks for Zipp Storm were filed on February 25th, 2021: One for toys,[4] another for media.[5]
  • Zipp is the older sister, making her the heiress to the throne of Zephyr Heights.
  • Zipp is sneaky and knows all the secret passages in the castle.
  • A running gag in Generation 5 is Zipp being always placed in a situation where she is accidentally confronted by her role as heiress to the throne of Zephyr Heights (something she clearly is not up for), such as having a crown (or something that resembles a crown) ending up on her head. Pipp normally is always nearby to admire her.
  • Despite being the older sister, the actresses who play her are younger than the actresses who play Pipp.
  • Her favorite smoothie flavor is Peanut Butter and Banana as revealed in Sunny's Smoothie Moves.
    • It can appear that she was interrupted and prevented from finishing the name in the episode, however, this is easily debunked by her repeatedly referring to the smoothie as 'PB&B' in following scenes.
