Written in the Starscouts is the eleventh episode in Season 2 of My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale, and the eighty-first episode overall. It was released on May 2, 2024.

Synopsis[]

Sunny finds a magical memory book containing her baby pictures, then gets sucked inside it, reliving the memories with her parents.

Plot[]

Zipp is busy researching her family history, when Sunny comes to check on her. Much to Zipp's surprise, Sunny reveals that she remembers very little about being a filly.

Suddenly, a book magically appears on a bookshelf. Upon examining it, Sunny sees that is her own personal memory book. Inside it are Sunny's baby pictures with her mother. Touching one of the photos triggers a magic spell, which drags Sunny inside the book.

Sunny wakes up as a filly on a tree branch. She is a little scared, but her parents encourage her to jump. Taking a leap of faith, Sunny jumps down and lands in her parents' hooves and they praise her.

Zipp watches the photo showing the memory live from the photo itself, which kind of freaks her out. She maintains her coolness and turns the page to another memory. This memory shows Sunny's mother telling her a bedtime story about how the ponies lost their magic, but she is hopeful it can be brought back.

Zipp finds some drawings and a map, pondering to herself what Sunny's mother might have been looking for. Going through some more memories, Zipp sees one with Sunny's mother making preparations for an expedition, leaving Sunny a telescope for safekeeping.

Zipp reaches the last page of Argyle and Sunny stargazing. Having finished viewing the memory, Sunny is launched out of the book along with the telescope.

Sunny and Zipp go to the top of the Brighthouse and find the spot where she was stargazing years ago. Looking through the telescope, Sunny finds a constellation and her cutie mark emits a magic trail, revealing a pattern that looks just like her mother.

  • More about Sunny and her family is revealed:
    • It's revealed that Sunny's mother, much like Argyle, was aware of Twilight Sparkle's reign, where the three pony tribes lived together in harmony.
    • Sunny's mother left to go on her own adventure in hopes of bringing magic back and unite the three tribes again, leaving her fate unknown.
    • Before leaving, Sunny's mother left her a telescope for her to keep while she is away and to look up to the stars whenever the former misses her.
  • It's revealed that the Brighthouse has the ability to allow the Mane 6 to relive their foalhood memories through photos.
  • The episode's title is a play on the phrase Written in the Stars.
  • The telescope Sunny uses was first seen in My Little Pony: A New Generation, when Sunny shelters Izzy in the lighthouse.
  • Hitch, Izzy, Pipp and Misty were credited, but didn't appear.
