Very Bad Hair Day is the sixty-fourth episode of My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale. It was released on October 26, 2023.
Synopsis[]
Pipp wakes up one morning to find her mane a complete mess, but she realizes she's not the only pony having a bad mane day when ponies using her new product have their manes transformed into monstrous creatures.
Plot[]
At the Crystal Brighthouse, Sunny attempts to serve Pipp breakfast in bed but is shocked to see Pipp's mane a wild, unruly mess. When she tries to help her fix it, it just changes back into its decrepit state, almost as if it were alive, so Sunny settles on giving her a lampshade to cover it up.
As an embarrassed Pipp walks to Mane Melody, she discovers that most of the ponies in town have the same problem and are resorting to wearing whatever they can to cover it up. When the crowd finds Pipp suffering the same problem, they deduce that Pipp's new mane softener is the cause, and Pipp retreats into Mane Melody to protect herself from the mob.
However, she discovers Windy inside with her, having shown up for her hooficure appointment at nine. When she inquires about Pipp's mane, she finds a bottle of mane softener still in Mane Melody, and a drop gets spilled onto a flower, causing its petals to mutate into living hair. Pipp comes clean, and Windy believes that she's seen this phenomenon before. But before they can do anything, the hair of the ponies outside becomes feral and breaks in, forcing them to flee. Finding costumes, the pair sneaks through town to the Sheriff's department for help, where Hitch has finally put Sparky to sleep, only for their arrival to wake the tot.
When Pipp explains the situation, Hitch shockingly reveals he had just used some of it. As his mane begins to mutate, Sparky plays with Pipp's mane, causing Windy to realize this phenomenon is caused by dragon magic. Sparky had grown a mustache the other day, and when he plucked it off, he accidentally threw its remains into the batch of Pipp's softener, causing it to turn other ponies' manes into monsters. When Hitch's mane starts attacking, a strand brushes Sparky's nose, causing him to sneeze fire and transform Hitch's mane to normal.
Inspired, Pipp uses a bottle to store some of Sparky's fire breath, allowing her to fly through town and de-mutate the manes of everyone affected. With the crisis averted, Windy awards Pipp "The Big Ideas Badge," and they go into Mane Melody to do Windy's hooficure. But the mutant plant from before has become a gigantic monster, forcing Pipp to fight it.
