The Manesquerade Ball is the fifth episode in Chapter 4 of My Little Pony: Make Your Mark and the twelfth episode overall.
Synopsis[]
It's the Zephyr Heights Manesquerade Ball and everypony's invited! When Misty sneaks out of Opaline's lair, the ponies bring her along to the party.
Plot[]
The Mane 5 is putting on makeups in preparation for the Manesquerade Ball, a dance party in Zephyr Heights. Sunny is excited because she has choreographed a special "unity dance" for herself and her friends. The Mane 5 also invite Jazz and Rocky to the Manesquerade Ball.
Meanwhile, at Opaline's castle, Misty is tasked with watching the castle as both a punishment for her previous failures and a loyalty test while Opaline goes back to search of the Dragonstone, an item she failed to obtain in the previous episode. In Opaline's absence, Misty grapples with the decision of remaining loyal to Opaline or rejoining her friends.
Zipp plans to attend the Manesquerade Ball to conduct research on Alicorn magic in the palace library archive. When Misty appears, the Mane 5 invite her to accompany them to the ball, and she accepts after a quick makeover. The group then heads to Zephyr Heights in the Mare Stream vehicle.
At the Manesquerade Ball, all attendees wear masks to conceal their identities, although Queen Haven fails to hide hers. Sunny tries to teach her friends the unity dance she had choreographed, while Alphabittle spends time with Queen Haven.
In the meantime, Zipp sneaks into the palace library archive to research Alicorn magic. Misty, concerned that Zipp might be searching for information about Opaline, secretly follows her. Within the library's archives, Misty discovers a book pertaining to Alicorns, which she believes could be of use to Opaline. However, her actions are noticed by Zipp, who takes this opportunity to question Misty's mysterious behavior since they first met. Misty refrains from disclosing her allegiance to Opaline but does reveal that she didn’t have a cutie mark. Fearing that her friends may distance themselves from her because of this revelation, Misty expresses her concerns. Zipp reassures her, emphasizing that they value her friendship despite their differences. In an attempt to be more open with her friends, Misty shares the book she found about Alicorns. Just then, Pipp enters to summon Zipp and Misty for Sunny's unity dance.
Back in the grand ballroom, Izzy prepares the song for Sunny's unity dance with help from Jazz and Rocky. Sunny expresses concerns about their rehearsal, prompting the ponies to adapt on the spot. In the center of the ballroom, the Mane 5 and Misty perform the unity dance.
After the Manesquerade Ball, the Mane 5 and Misty gather to watch a video recording of their unity dance at the Crystal Brighthouse. Misty expresses gratitude to the ponies for inviting her and especially Zipp. Zipp assures Misty that she's always welcome at the Brighthouse and even suggests collaborating on Alicorn research in the future.
Misty returns to Opaline's castle before Opaline. Having successfully obtained the Dragonstone, Opaline prepares for the next stage of her plan. Later, when Zipp examines the book on Alicorns given to her by Misty, she realizes that some pages have been recently torn out, unaware that Misty had taken them.
