Spike, also known as Dragon Lord Spike and Spike the Dragon, is a male dragon and was revered as a hero in ancient Equestria. He is the current Dragon Lord of the Dragon Lands after spending many moons in a magical hibernation.
Personality[]
Spike still has the same personality he had used to have; when he was a baby dragon, maintaining playful, sarcastic and; with a bit of vanity that; was so characteristic of him; but also still being a great friend; especially towards ponies; since he still had remembered his friendship; with Twilight Sparkle and the others, and was the only dragon; who did not have any suspicions towards Sunny and her friends at all.
But Spike is now mature and wise once he had grown; into an adult and become the dragon lord, while also showing his leadership skills that; he had learned from Twilight herself. This is seen in the way he handles the situation; with Sparky Sparkeroni, returning to his kind or remaining; with the ponies that; had raised him, as he lets the baby dragon choose; despite already knowing what his choice would be; since he himself had experienced the same thing.
Despite everything, Spike is shown to miss his pony friends very much; especially Twilight, finding it hard to be away from them. Even so, this is what motivates him to fight against Opaline; since he sees much of Twilight in Sunny, even going as far as calling her "princess".
Abilities[]
Due to being a full-grown dragon; Spike possesses the strength of one. Due to being not only the dragon lord; but also the biggest and the oldest of the dragons known so far, he is also the strongest. With his wings, he is also able to fly.
Like all other dragons, Spike is able to breathe fire. His fire can act as a normal fire and burn anything it touches; but it also possesses one specific type of magic; teleportation magic; which allows him to teleport anything or anyone to any locations he desires. He is seen using it to teleport Sparky towards the Dragonstone so Sparky could use it to take his fire back from Opaline and undo anything she had done with it, and then to teleport himself, Sunny, Sparky, Lava, and Jade out of Opaline's castle as the Together Tree grew in size and destroyed it. His fire can; even work in reverse; allowing him to summon things or beings, like how he had used it to bring Sunny's friends to her.
Appearance[]
Spike has taken the appearance of a classic European Dragon having four legs and a pair of wings and horns. On the sides of his head are fins, purple with green membranes. His dragon fire is green flames. He has green tinted horns, alongside some purple dots below the horns as well, tan underbelly and purple scales.
He doesn't have a mane. His wing membranes have stripes of green to cyan as well.

Chapter 6[]
Spike reappears in The Isle of Scaly as the Dragon Lord after having slumbering for generations as Blaize woke him up with a large horn when Sunny and the ponies visited him to warn him and the dragons of the evil Alicorn, Opaline. Spike explains how Twilight Sparkle thwarted Opaline's plans once before and offers to help them defeat her for good. In Roots of All Evil Pt. 1, Spike and the dragons infiltrate Opaline's castle to get the Dragonstone from her, but they end up captured and been put under her mind control.
In Roots of All Evil Pt. 2, before Opaline can steal all the magic in Equestria, Sparky frees Spike from her mind control and he helps Sparky turn the Dragonstone's power against Opaline, stripping her of her cutie mark and imprisoning her within the roots of her own Together Tree. With Opaline defeated, Spike permits Sparky to remain under Hitch's care, and he and the dragons return to the Isle of Scaly and promised to see the Mane 6 again soon.

Trivia[]
- Spike is currently the only character from Generation 4, and by extension, from Twilight's reign, to be an active character on Generation 5.
- Even if Twilight Sparkle and her friends, Celestia and Luna had also made a physical appearance throughout Generation 5 (being on the movie, specials, episodes, and/or webisodes), it has only been through imagination, message, or flashback.
- However, if the comics are considered, Spike is the second character from Generation 4 to be an active character in the current generation, with Discord being the first.
- Spike, being the current Dragon Lord, may be a reference to the episode "Gauntlet of Fire" from season 6 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Even if Ember was the one to become Dragon Lord, Spike was actually the one to earn the title, but he passed it onto her, knowing she would be a great leader that would protect both dragons and ponies alike.
- It's unknown what happened for Spike to become the Dragon Lord, but maybe that has something to do with Opaline's first attempt to take all the magic of Equestria.
- Since it has been revealed that the magic in a dragon flame depends on the dragon to which it belongs, and Spike's magic is shown to be teleportation (the same one he would use to send or receive messages between Twilight and Princess Celestia), it's confirmed that ability was inate of him and was not a spell cast on him by either Twilight or Princess Celestia to allow him to do his job as Twilight's assistant more easily.
