Sparky Sparkeroni is a male baby dragon in the fifth generation of My Little Pony. He was born during Maretime Bay Day. He is the adoptive son of Hitch Trailblazer and the adoptive great-grandson of Grandma Figgy.
Personality
As with any baby, Sparky is very curious, rambunctious and sometimes gets himself into trouble. However, he appears to have a good judgment of character, as he seemed to sense something wrong with Misty in episodes such as "The Traditional Unicorn Sleep-Over". However, he also giggled happily when Misty promised to bring him back to Hitch after she received her Cutie Mark, showing somewhat of an understanding of her actions in Have You Seen This Dragon?. In "Bridlewoodstock" he’s also the first person to notice the Troggles when they attack the music festival, and in "The Cutie Mark Mix-Up," he noticed Opaline’s evil mouse construct entering the Brighthouse, making it a mission to hunt it down.
Sparky also shows himself to be mischievous and somewhat intelligent in terms of building, such as creating traps to protect himself from Misty in "Have You Seen This Dragon?".
Appearance
Sparky is a green baby dragon with a light green underbelly. He has four horns which all curl backward with swirls on them. He has low, long ears with pink insides. He has a pair of bat-like wings.
Abilities
As a dragon, Sparky possesses the ability of emitting fire. He normally emits it by breathing, sneezing, belching, or passing gas. However, Sparky's innate magic and inexperience cause the fire's effects to vary. For example, Sparky's fire can morph objects into other objects, most commonly food. However, it can also take the properties of natural fire, which often incinerates objects. Sparky's dragon flames can also switch two pony's Cutie Marks, such as with Hitch and Sunny in "The Cutie Mark Mix-Up."
Sparky is also shown to possess incredible strength, as he is capable of dragging his adopted father Hitch around town while restrained with a child leash with no signs of struggle, can throw trash cans in the air with ease, and is capable of knocking down painting easels.
With his wings, Sparky also possesses the ability to fly, as shown in "Secret Canter".
His intelligence level has varied throughout the series. He speaks almost no English (only knowing the words "Surprise" and "Me too"), but seems to mostly understand it. He is able to write and probably read as shown in Hot Day, Huh?. He can command smaller animals around, as seen in Pony-Kind Parade-emonium, though it's unclear if they understand each other.

Biography
Almost nothing is known about the origins of Sparky's egg other than it washed up on the beach of Maretime Bay. It was discovered by Sheriff Hitch Trailblazer on Maretime Bay Day. Unsure as to what animal the egg belonged to and concerned for its safety, Hitch took it back to the Sheriff's Station. He carefully set up the egg in a makeshift incubator in a cabinet and promised to find its parents, all while developing a paternal bond for whatever creature might hatch.
At first, only Hitch's seagull and crab friends knew of the egg. However, Zipp Storm soon found out about it. She agreed to keep the secret between the two of them and to find out the parentage of the egg. During the subsequent storm which nearly destroyed Maretime Bay, Hitch protected the egg. After the storm, when Hitch gained the power to understand other animals, they began to tell him the egg was special.
It was then that Hitch's Earth pony Magic allowed the egg to hatch revealing that it contained a baby Dragon! Hitch was naturally awestruck by the development, as Sunny stated that Dragons had not been seen in Equestria for many years. Almost immediately, the Dragon known to be Sparky imprinted on Hitch, seeing him as his Father. Hitch immediately took custody of Sparky and accepted him as a son. The rest of the Mane 5 were similarly excited by the arrival of Sparky.
My Little Pony: Make Your Mark
Chapter 1
In Make Your Mark, Sparky is first seen abandoned on the beach as an egg and is taken in by Hitch. He hatches towards the end of the first episode and immediately bonds with Hitch. Although Hitch is able to understand the other animals around him, he cannot understand Sparky's babbling.

In Top Remodel, Sparky explores the abandoned Canterlogic with Hitch and Pipp.
In The Jinxie Games, Sparky and Hitch practices for the Forest Critter Field Day, but Sparky can’t join due to being a baby dragon. When no one is looking after him, he climbs up a tree and almost fell, but Hitch manages to save him in time.
In A Little Horse, Sparky and Hitch comforts Pipp with animal facts and performs a show with other critters.
In Missing the Mark, Sparky is dragonnapped by Misty to the Opaline's Dark Castle. Opaline uses the Dragonstone to drain Sparky’s magic, turning him all grey and threatened to drop him off the castle into the ocean. Zipp and Hitch save him in the end.

In The Isle of Scaly, Sparky goes to the dragons' home with the Mane 6 to warn the dragons about Opaline. Most of the dragons were really excited when they first met Sparky for the very first time. In order for the dragons to team up with the Mane 6 to help them stop Opaline, they must get permission from their Dragon Lord leader. When the dragons agreed to help the Mane 6 defeat Opaline once and for all, Sparky has fun playing with Fountain and Tumble, but Hitch is unsure if Sparky should stay with the dragons or he should keep Sparky with him who has been raising him ever since the events of the special. Later, the Mane 6 and Sparky take a ride on the dragons back home to Maretime Bay.
In Roots of All Evil Pt. 1, Sparky and the Mane 6 arrived back home into Maretime Bay atop dragons. While the Mane 6 comes up with a plan to stop Opaline, Spike suddenly falls down to the ground and the ponies run over to see what had happened. Luxxe and the dragons are also not doing so well either. Misty explains that is the Dragonstone that is causing the dragons to be tired, she said if Opaline has the dragons under her control and that she's using the stone to do it. Sunny is worried that if Opaline uses up all the Dragonstone's magic it could put dragons back to sleep for a another thousand moons but Spike said that could not let it happen again. The dragons are going to infiltrate to go to Opaline's castle to get the Dragonstone from her but Luxxe believe that Sparky is the chosen one since he was the one who filled up the Dragonstone in the first place and he is why Opaline's fire Alicorn magic was so powerful. Hitch reluctantly allows the dragons to take Sparky with them and wishes him good luck. Sparky and the dragons have arrived at Opaline's castle but finds that Opaline is not in her castle and Sparky points that the Dragonstone is inside her castle. The dragons and Sparky found the Dragonstone completely charged, the dragons fear that Opaline has Lava and Jade with her, and she had chained them up. But the dragons' and Sparky's attempt to grabbed the Dragonstone failed as Opaline has discovered, trapped them and put under her control except for Sparky, who is hidden from her view. Opaline tells the story of her plans to take over Equestria and she even kidnapped Misty when she was a filly just to grow her tree, this is why Misty brought Sparky to her and took a very little spark to activate her tree. Sparky is unable to get Spike out of her control, he starts getting worried.
In Roots of All Evil Pt. 2, he is scared that Opaline is gonna take down Sunny and have the last bit of the cutie mark magic and the Unity Crystals as well. As Sunny enters, she sees Sparky under Spike's wing. While Opaline and Sunny battle each other again, he shakes and being scared of watching them fight. Opaline finally succeeds in defeating Sunny and takes her cutie mark, stripping of her Alicorn powers, Sparky climbs up into Spike's face and finally succeed of breaking off Opaline's control of him. And with all of the magic of Equestria now in her possession, Opaline disables all of Twilight Sparkle's magical protections around Equestria, causing the Unity Crystals from the Brighthouse to lose their power completely. While all of ponies are singing in support of Sunny, causing the rainbow of light of Sunny's red-heart locket to open up and restraints Opaline. With Opaline completely immobilized, Spike uses his magic to teleport Sparky to the Dragonstone and uses his magic to turn the Dragonstone's magic against Opaline, he destroys the gold necklace from her neck that she uses to hold the Mane 6's cutie marks in, frees Lava, Jade and the dragons from her control and her together tree that holds all of the ponies cutie marks. With cutie mark magic now restored, the Unity Crystals return to full power. As Opaline's Together Tree starts to grow in expand with the castle crumbling, the dragons, Sparky, Spike and Sunny flee and takes the Dragonstone with them. While Spike teleports him and his friends out, Opaline gets trapped inside the roots of her own Together Tree, ending her threat. After succeeding of defeating Opaline, Spike lets Sparky to remain to be in Hitch's care, and he and the other dragons say farewell to the ponies and promised to see them again very soon.

Season 2
In Cake Dragon, it's Sparky's birthday and the Mane 6 throws a party to celebrate. As Sparky extinguishes the candles on his giant cake, his magical dragon fire brings the birthday cake to life, transforming into a colossal Cake Dragon. When Sparky climbs a building to have fun with his creation, the Cake Dragon knocks him off the roof but Hitch saves him. After the Cake Dragon is defeated, Hitch uses his magic to transform the cake into a small dragon plushie. Sparky is delighted with the plush doll, affectionately calling Hitch, Papa.
