'''Phyllis Cloverleaf''' is a female [[:Category:Earth Ponies|Earth]] [[Ponies|pony]] in the fifth generation of ''My Little Pony''. She owns the company and factory [[Canterlogic]], whose products have been keeping the Earth ponies safe and stylish for 20 moons. She is also the mother of [[Sprout]].

==Personality==
Just like most Earth ponies, Phyllis believes [[:Category:Unicorns|unicorns]] and [[:Category:Pegasus ponies|pegasi]] are evil and a threat to Earth ponies. In fact, at some point in the film, she and the employees of Canterlogic start to work on gadgets to help Earth ponies protect themselves from unicorns and pegasi, exploiting their fears to profit off of them.

When it comes to her son, Sprout, she's a supportive mother who tries her best to please him, yet she set a poor example and misguided Sprout by instilling into him her biased beliefs and failing to keep his unflattering traits of insecurity, immaturity and his own hunger for power and glory from growing out of control. Still, there are limits and she will express her concerns whenever she feels like he's crossing any lines.

It was seeing the lengths her son went because of her misguidance and poor example, along with being moved by [[Sunny Starscout]]'s words, that convinced Phyllis to let go of her bigoted beliefs and embrace friendship, unity and harmony with the other pony tribes.

==Appearance==
She has a light peach pink coat, slightly lighter fetlocks, reddish hooves, and pale blue eyes. Her eyebrows, tail, and mane are all golden blonde, the latter of which consists of large curls bundled atop her head. She wears hot pink glasses with eyelash silhouettes attached via silver screws, as well as a pearl necklace and earrings. She has subtle lavender eyeshadow. She also wears a brown lanyard with her ID tag on it. Her [[Cutie Mark|cutie mark]] is a graph of three purple bars with a hot pink arrow going over it, depicting rising stocks.

When she was younger, her necklace only had one pearl, and she didn't have the pearl earrings. Her abundance of pearls now may be representative of her growing wealth over the years.

In ''[[My Little Pony: Make Your Mark]]'',  her eyes are amber instead of pale blue.

Before the time-skip in the film, Phyllis appears at the doorstep of [[Argyle Starshine]]'s lighthouse to retrieve her son Sprout and his playmate, [[Hitch Trailblazer]]. She scolds them both, Sprout in particular, for going to the lighthouse without her permission. She gets into a brief argument with Argyle about which of them is guilty of "brainwashing" before she guides Sprout and Hitch outside. Phyllis complains about the way Argyle spoke to her, but her mood is uplifted after Sprout makes a quip about becoming sheriff one day and keeping everypony in line.

After the time-skip, Phyllis is hosting one of her annual CanterLogic presentations. She claims that her company produces devices that will protect Earth ponies from the thought-to-be dangerous unicorns and pegasi. After introducing a few of CanterLogic's products, she is caught off guard by Sunny (who Phyllis had personally banned from the premises due to Sunny's anti-segregationist activism and previous attempts to sabotage CanterLogic demonstrations) suddenly jumping on stage just before a fully automated product demonstration. Phyllis requests for the automation to be shut off to no avail, but still does her best to continue the show as normal, apprehensively explaining the products even as Sunny is unintentionally caught in their fray. When the automation ends and Sunny tells the audience that CanterLogic products are unnecessary, Phyllis is quick to shut her down and mock her beliefs, while also invoking fear in the crowd by reinstating how deadly unicorns and pegasi are. She commands Hitch to do his job and take Sunny away, before focusing on continuing her presentation.

When [[Izzy Moonbow]] first arrives in [[Maretime Bay]], Phyllis is directing [[Toots]] and [[Sweets]] to use CanterLogic splat-a-pults against the unicorn. Later, Phyllis bursts into the sheriff's office asking for Hitch because the citizens of Maretime Bay are terrified and need somepony to calm them down. Sprout responds that Hitch left to go after the fleeing Sunny, and noticing that Sprout is miserable, Phyllis cheers him up by explaining that Hitch's absence means Sprout is current sheriff.

Phyllis is then seen taking refuge in the sheriff's office again, trying to escape from the panicked ponies of Maretime Bay. She takes the opportunity to hand the responsibility over for Sprout to deal with instead, assuring him that it's his destiny. They go outside and Phyllis introduces Sprout as the new sheriff, pushing him to speak to the terrified crowd while she watches from the side.

When Sprout has taken over the CanterLogic factory, Phyllis tells him she understands that his top-secret project is important to him but she wants to know when her workers can continue making CanterLogic products. When Sprout implies he should get to use her factory because he's the emperor of the town, she expresses surprise since he was merely the sheriff the previous day. After he declares his plan to go on offense and thanks her for her love and encouragement, she is evidently concerned and notes to herself that he might be letting the power go to his head.

After Sprout has taken full authority over Maretime Bay, Phyllis watches him proudly as he arrives to make his speech. When Hitch brings news that unicorns and pegasi could be their friends and don't even have magic, her reservations return. Sprout reveals his [[Sproutacus Maximus]] mech and Phyllis attempts to warn him that he might be going too far, but he doesn't pay heed to this. She chases after him and continually tells him to stop while he is on his rampage, and shows distress when Izzy almost falls off the edge of the lighthouse, but Sprout doesn't listen until Phyllis puts herself right on the mech's path. After the lighthouse's destruction, Phyllis is the pony to put together the final piece of the broken photo frame of Sunny and Argyle, accepting Sunny's message of friendship and harmony as she stands alongside [[Queen Haven]] and [[Alphabittle Blossomforth]].

After magic returns, Sprout seeks validation from her by asking if she was a good sheriff, but she avoids the question by distracting him and quickly sneaking away.

==Trivia==
*While never outright stated, it is strongly implied that Phyllis' influence over Maretime Bay is the only reason her son Sprout has a job as Deputy (though Hitch's long-time friendship with Sprout may have played a part as well). Reinforcing the idea that she is abusing Nepotism is that Sprout displays absolutely none of the skill, dedication or talent required for a job of law enforcement, and she allows him to have the complete run of her factory when Sprout is temporarily promoted to Sheriff by Hitch in his absence, albeit with some reluctance on her part.
*For her one singing line "Oh, no..." in "Danger Danger (Angry Mob)", Alan Schmuckler (Sprout's singing voice) provides her voice uncredited via a falsetto instead of Elizabeth Perkins.
