Onyx is a female Unicorn pony in the fifth generation of My Little Pony who appears in My Little Pony: A New Generation, My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale and My Little Pony: Make Your Mark.
Personality[]
Before magic returned, just like many unicorns, Onyx always held a somber mood and poor posture. However, she always has a creative and poetic side. While she gained some enthusiasm with the return of magic, it was not significant. Onyx often appears with Dapple and perform together.
Appearance[]
Onyx's appearance varies in the movie, webisodes, episodes and specials.
In A New Generation, she is a gray unicorn with a dark purple mane that covers her right eye in a bang. She has magenta eyes, purple hooves, and a dark red scarf and beret.
In the Tell Your Tale webisodes and Make Your Mark episodes and specials, her appearance is nearly the same, except that her coat is blue in color instead of gray.
Her cutie mark is a hot pink feather pen.

Season 1[]
First appears in On Your Cutie Marks, Onyx participates in the Equestria Games.
In One Trick Pony, Onyx is in the Crystal Tea Room trying to get tea while Rufus is doing a magic trick.
In All That Jazz, Onyx and Dapple's jazz performance inspires Jazz Hooves to make her own hooficure designs.
In Moon Festival, Onyx struggles to control her magic when the full moon is happening.

In Winter Wishday, Onyx greets Izzy Moonbow by reciting poetry she created. She is then seen when the Mane 5 come back to Bridlewood and tell her and the other unicorns to stop saying frosty shivers.
Chapter 4[]
In Bridlewoodstock, Onyx and Dapple warn the Mane 5 about the danger of the Troggles.
In The Jinxie Games, Onyx appears as one of the judges for the Forest Critter Grand Prix.
Chapter 5[]
In Family Trees Pt. 1, Onyx is seen in the Crystal Tea Room with Dapple, Alphabittle and Queen Haven when the Breezies arrive. In Father of the Bridlewood, Onyx is seen alongside Dapple giving Alphabittle insight into what his daughter Misty might be feeling.
Chapter 6[]
In Roots of All Evil Pt. 1, Onyx has her cutie mark stolen by Opaline. In Roots of All Evil Pt. 2, she takes part in the fight in Bridlewood. She later joins everypony in singing in support of Sunny and regains her cutie mark upon Opaline's defeat.

- Onyx's cutie mark was stolen in two different episodes: first in the non-canon Tell Your Tale episode Nightmare Market and then in the Make Your Mark episode Roots of All Evil Pt. 1.
- She is credited as "Beatnik Unicorn" in A New Generation.
- In Bridlewoodstock, when she and Dapple experience a trialogue with Pipp Petals, there is always either a brief pause or a line from Dapple between lines of her and Pipp. This is likely due to Onyx and Pipp being voiced by the same actress.
