Moon Festival is the fifty-ninth episode of My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale. It was released on August 24, 2023.

Synopsis[]

Tonight is the Moon Festival, but the light of the full moon is supercharging pony magic out of control.

Plot[]

It's the start of the Moon Festival in Zephyr Heights when Zoom and Thunder are chasing a runaway moon. Queen Haven explains that the festival is held when the moon is closest to Equestria and that Pipp and Zipp have always loved it, but Pipp says otherwise. Haven also says that they'll be featuring an aerial show featuring Zephyr Heights' best fliers, the Zephyr Heights Aerobats, since it's the first festival since magic returned. Zipp notices that everyone's magic is acting up and gets suspicious.

Queen Haven treats the Mane 6 to the Royal Box where they have VIP seating and view the show. Zipp enjoys the show, but notices that the ponies are unable to control their magic. She sneaks out and does some investigating. She sees that it's not the Unity Crystals, but the moon that causing the problems. She tells the others and devises a plan to block it with lanterns. When they release them, they go in different directions, but Sunny uses her Alicorn power to corral them in front of the moon making a spectacular light show in the process and causing magic to return to normal. The Aerobats continue their show, and the Mane 6 are applauded for their actions. However, Zoom pushes the fake moon, and it rolls away again.

  • The Moon festival is based on the Mid-Autumn Festival in Chinese culture.
  • This is the second episode Skye appears without Dazzle.
  • Sunny's Alicorn Magic seems to be resistant to the moon altering its effects, as she is the only pony who retains control of her magic.
