Missing the Mark is the seventh and final episode in Chapter 4 of My Little Pony: Make Your Mark and the fourteenth episode overall.
Synopsis[]
Sparky's in trouble! The Mane 5 must join forces with Misty to battle the evil Opaline and stop her from capturing Dragonfire — if they can trust Misty.
Plot[]
In the middle of the night, Misty finally captures Sparky and takes him to Opaline's castle. In the Sheriff's station, Hitch wakes up just to find out Sparky is missing again. After past experience, Hitch believes that Sparky is just hiding and goes to the Crystal Brighthouse to find him. However, despite the Mane 5's effort, they can't find Sparky in his usual hiding place and even with a lullaby, leaving them all worried.
Before handing Sparky to Opaline, Misty suddenly regrets what she did due to Sparky being adorable and decides to take him back to the Mane 5, however it's already too late as Opaline spots Sparky. Opaline is thrilled and excited to see that Misty has completed her mission and traps Sparky in a magic bubble outside of the castle high above the ground, beginning to drain his magic with the Dragonstone. Meanwhile, the Mane 5 is getting really concerned about what happened to Sparky, especially Hitch.
Seeing what happened to Sparky, Misty is really worried and attempts to free him, but to no avail. Misty then runs over to the Crystal Brighthouse to warn the Mane 5, while not revealing information about Opaline and who dragonnapped Sparky.
Traveling via Mare Stream, Misty leads the Mane 5 into Opaline's castle. As Misty guides them through the castle, Zipp starts questioning her about how she knows the castle's layout. But before she could explain, Opaline shows up before them and traps the Mane 5 in a magic bubble, revealing to the ponies that Misty not only abduct Sparky but she has also been working as Opaline's spy the entire time. The Mane 5 renounce Misty as their friend for her perceived betrayal.
Opaline tells Misty that she will get her cutie mark as a reward for her loyalty after Sparky's magic has been fully drained. Meanwhile the Mane 5 are trying to escape the magic bubble, but neither Izzy's horn or Sunny's Alicorn form work due to its magic cancelling properties. Misty shows up and offers to help them but the Mane 5 reject her for her constant deception. But Misty tells them that she did not intend to get them captured, and explains that she used to be a lost filly a long time ago and she couldn't remember where her home was. When Opaline found her, and that she promised Misty to give her a cutie mark. After Misty tries to convince Opaline not to dispose of Sparky after draining his magic but fails.
Misty returns to the Mane 5's cage once again and tries to apologize, but they angrily refused to listen to another apology from her. Misty tells them that she is so sorry for trapping and betraying them, she tells them that they have been nothing but have been really nice to her and they've treated her like a friend more than anypony else did. Misty chooses to forget about getting a cutie mark and choose to help her friends. She breaks off a magic stick from Opaline's throne and successfully sets the Mane 5 free. Earning the forgiveness from the Mane 5, Misty's body suddenly starts floating and glowing with magic, getting her very own butterfly-shaped cutie mark on her flank.
The Dragonstone has finally absorbed enough magic from Sparky, and Opaline starts boosting her power up, right when Misty calls for help. Frustrated, Opaline goes to check on Misty while Zipp and Hitch sneak in her room and save Sparky. Downstairs, Misty pretends to be overpowered and trapped by the Mane 5, and Sunny confronts Opaline. Due to Opaline's newly gained power, she's too powerful for ponies and traps Pipp and Izzy again. However, Sunny transforms into her Alicorn form and with the help of cutie mark magic from her friends and Misty, Sunny defeats Opaline, traps her in the magic bubble and warns her to stay away from her friends.
As the Mane 5 escape with Sparky, a humiliated Opaline bursts out of Sunny's magic bubble with magic and swears revenge even though she failed to drain all of Sparky's dragonfire but she still obtain have the fire magic, unaware of Misty getting her cutie mark. Back at the Crystal Brighthouse, the Mane 5 are taking care of Sparky while Misty shows up and apologizes for her betrayal again. The Mane 5 assure Misty that what she did was right and they have forgiven her, and Misty promises to help defeat Opaline. In the end, Opaline reveals her plans on finding more dragons so she can take more of their dragonfire to power herself up a little further.
