Lava is a male dragon who appeared as a cameo in Nightmare on Mane Street. He later appears in My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale along with his friends Blaize and Tumble. In The Isle of Scaly, he and Jade were captured by Opaline.
Personality[]
Lava appears to be kind and friendly like his two friends. He was impressed with the ponies for passing the dragons' test since he didn't think they could do it.
Appearance[]
Lava is a classic European Dragon having four legs and a pair of wings and horns. He has orange eyes, his scales are burgundy with a dark bluish underbelly while his horns are shaded with grey. His wing membranes have the same color in the middle and on the edges. His dragon fire is a very dark red color. His cutie mark is a paw print.

Chapter 5[]
In Nightmare on Mane Street, Lava first appeared alongside Jade in an image from Opaline, who threatens to take away their dragon magic.
Chapter 6[]
Lava made his debut in The Isle of Scaly, he along with Jade have been captured by Opaline, as Opaline sings them a lullaby, and have been put under her mind control, forcing them to put their Dragonfire on the Dragonstone so she can have enough power to take over all of Equestria.
In Roots of All Evil Pt. 1, he, Jade, and Opaline all arrived in Maretime Bay, stealing Hitch's cutie mark including the cutie marks of Diggy and Sander. Lava and Jade bowed down to Opaline as Jade says all of the magic of Equestria is hers now, but Opaline says that she is not done yet, and needs four more ponies from Sunny and the rest of her friends (excluding Misty's).
In Roots of All Evil Pt. 2, he, Jade and Opaline go to the Crystal Brighthouse to take Sunny's cutie mark next, but Twilight's protection spell is still protecting the Brighthouse. Opaline orders Lava and Jade to break through Twilight's protection spell. Misty lures Lava, Jade and Opaline away from the Brighthouse, Misty hides and revealing to Opaline that she has been working with the Mane 5 against her since Missing the Mark. Opaline manages to get her necklace back, and she and the enslaved dragons used Maretime Bay's Together Tree to travel to Zephyr Heights and Bridlewood instead. Once there in Zephyr Heights, Pipp distracts Opaline and her enslaved dragons with a song and Zipp traps the pair. But Opaline quickly escapes and takes Pipp and Zipp's cutie marks. Misty, who has been following Lava, Jade and Opaline to Zephyr Heights, standing up to her for all the abuse and mistreatment that she endured with Opaline who never experienced real friendship with her. But Opaline refused, and takes her cutie mark too. In Bridlewood, Izzy and the unicorns fight Opaline by throwing stuff at her and the enslaved dragons. Izzy fools Opaline to think that she stole her cutie mark, but she quickly stops Izzy from escaping and takes her real one. Sunny decides she is going to go face Opaline by herself, but she is defeated and loses her cutie mark, stripping of her Alicorn powers. With all the magic in Equestria now in Opaline's possession, she disables all of Twilight Sparkle's protection spells around Equestria causing the Unity Crystals from the Brighthouse to lose their power completely. As all hope seems lost, everypony in Equestria starts singing in support of her, causing the rainbow of light from Sunny's red-heart shaped that the Breezie gave Sunny in Mane Smelody to react, opens up and restraints Opaline. With Opaline completely immobilized, Sparky takes back everything by using his magic on the Dragonstone against Opaline, taking her own power, freeing Lava and Jade, and the other dragons from her mind control, and returning the cutie marks that she stole from the ponies. With all the cutie mark magic finally restored, the Unity Crystals from the Crystal Brighthouse return to full power. As Opaline's Together Tree continues to grow in expand, Spike teleports himself and his friends out, while Opaline gets trapped and brushes her flank against the roots of her tree, causing it to take her own cutie mark away, she goes after it to retrieve it, gets sealed inside the roots of the tree, ending her threat to Equestria once and for all, and her castle has reduced into ruins. With Opaline defeated, Spike and the other dragons reunite with Lava and Jade and their dragon magic is finally restored. The ponies and the dragons celebrate their victory together. They later say goodbye to the Mane 6, and returned back home to the Isle of Scaly.
