The Dragon Lands, also known as the Isle of Scaly, has been the home of the Dragons near Equestria for thousands of years.
Past[]
During the Reign of Twilight Sparkle, the Dragon Lands were a largely barren expanse of volcanic plateaus and mountains, unsuitable for habitation by most creatures except for Dragons who could subsist from the region's plethoric reserves of gemstones. The Lands were ruled by a single Dragon Lord who was chosen through physically testing trials. Because of the efforts of Twilight Sparkle, her adopted little brother Spike and their friend Rarity, the Dragons were able to secure a more strategic and peaceful Dragon Lord, Ember.
Modern Day[]
At some point during the Reign of Twilight Sparkle, the Dragon Lands broke contact with Equestria, fearful of the fire elemental Alicorn Opaline Arcana and her desire to hijack their dragon fire magic for evil purposes. The majority of dragons entered a deep sleep and over the centuries vanished from the memories of ponies, with many forgetting where the Dragon Lands even were. During this time, the Dragon Lands drastically changed in terms of its environment, becoming a lush jungle of exotic plants.
Argyle Starshine was the only pony to retain a map of the overland route to the Dragon Lands. Additionally, Misty Brightdawn was able to use an enchanted door at the Wishing Tree to access the region via portal.
